Michael J. Fox Duets With Paul Simon At Parkinson’s Fundraiser – The Wall Street Journal

The annual fall fundraising event for the Michael J. Fox Foundation may be called A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Cure Parkinson’s, but after last year’s, when Mr. Fox accompanied Chris Martin on guitar for “ Johnny B. Goode ” in the style of “Back to the Future,” the party might be in need of a title change. The big moments now are all about rock ’n’ roll.

This year, an equally sublime moment was shared with the evening’s musical entertainer Paul Simon on, yes, “You Can Call Me Al.”

“This is the moment we’re all waiting for—the duet with Michael J. Fox, ” said Mr. Simon.

… It is a testament to Mr. Fox’s charms and his philanthropic mission—as well as how enjoyable this particular party can be—that an entire ballroom of people is willing to show up on a late-autumn Saturday night, year after year. This weekend’s party raised over $5 million, with no live auction or awkward pledge drive necessary.
